Most parents I know are not satisfied with just the name of the condition or symptom their child has, they want to know WHY this has happened to their child.

Let me tell you the story of how I arrived at the conclusions I have drawn from the world of alternative medicine AFTER I had been trained and practiced for many years as a conventional medical doctor and pediatrician.

I became a physician trained to take care of children as a general pediatrician in 1994.

I joined a pediatrics group practice and began my career like all of my colleagues, eager to provide high quality care and to be the best physician I could be.

It was and continues to be a joy and a privilege for me to get to know parents and their kids and to be of service to them.

About 5 years into my practice, I became interested in the Chinese Medicine system and the growing world of alternative medicine.

When my wife decided to become an acupuncturist, I was forced to confront my own views of alternative medicine which were quite biased and skewed towards disbelief and condescension.

With time, learning, personal experience as a patient, and a major internal transformation of my own views and beliefs, I changed into a physician who uses energy medicine techniques every day in my current practice.

This was not an easy transition, but I am glad that I made the change when I did in the year 2000.

Since then, I have treated kids in a unique way, which I believe is complementary to the way I was trained in conventional pediatrics.

It has been my experience that the energy medicine view of what's going on with babies, kids, and teenagers, gives a very useful explanation of those topics that are very difficult to address when using only the conventional point of view.

This tends to be focused primarily on the physical, measurable, and laboratory reproducible aspects of drugs and surgical procedures and their efficacy.

I do believe there is a place for drugs and surgery when it comes to children's healthcare, but there should be a balance and an openness to other perspectives as well.

My own view is that these attributes of conventional medicine are useful but woefully incomplete.

We need to address your child in a much more comprehensive and individualized way.

I see the need for more information in your hands as parents, because you have the most important influence on your child.

I cringe at the notion of categorizing your child according to age, gender, condition, disease, and any other label you can think of.

In my opinion, this concept of categorizing and labeling has gone too far.

We need to get back to respecting individual differences among kids as well as parents.

This is the only real way to accomplish what you as parents are trying to do.

To raise your kids in the most balanced and harmonious way possible, with the outcome being a well-adjusted young adult, ready to reach their full potential and make their mark on this world.

Now I have been in practice as an alternative medicine practitioner for several years longer than I was a general pediatrician.

Over the years I have related my views to countless parents in my own medical practice.

One of the things I find most often is that parents are looking for ways to give their kids the best preparation they can offer them, and this usually does not come from the standard conventional medical point of view.

Since many parents have found my energy medicine perspective useful, I decided to put these views down on paper and make it available to my patients in a form they could refer back to again and again.

Then one of the parents of the kids I see in my practice made the suggestion:
