EnvironmentThe environment can have a significant impact on your child's health and wellbeing. It has become very obvious to me over the years that kids nowadays are very sensitive to their immediate surroundings, both locally and globally. This is quite a sweeping generalization I know, but it seems to hold true the vast majority of the time when I ask about it with my patients and their parents. In the energy medicine system, we have the freedom to talk about influences coming from your child's surroundings even though there may be no "real" measurement that corresponds with the effects. We will delve into several different types of influences that can affect your child. These will include all aspects of what is surrounding your child at any given time. Influences like physical surroundings, the school building and grounds, social and peer structures, your home dwelling, the noise and pollution in your locale, toxins, allergy triggers and family relationship dynamics, just to name a few. All of these can contribute to what your child's system experiences on a daily basis from an energy standpoint. I will also do my best to give you practical things you can do to alleviate, prevent or counteract some of these influences on your child. Current Settings:Their energy system settings will change based on the surroundings they find themselves in at various times of the day. The difference between the school and the home settings is easy to understand. Just note that the difference it makes to your child's energy system is routine and cyclical and may explain the presence of symptoms in school but not at home, and vice versa. Past Settings:If your child has past settings that are associated with a certain scenario, all it takes is for their nervous system to associate that past experience with the current environment and then the resulting energy setting will be enacted. This can have importance when for example, exposure to a certain chemical or allergen is repeated in a similar place where your child had a previous reaction, it may happen again in a similar location even without the chemical or allergic trigger. Being aware of past settings can give us some clues as to how your child's nervous system and energy system as a whole is responding and reacting to their surroundings. Historical Settings:Historical influences can play a role in sensitive children who are able to pick up on the energy dynamics coming directly from the environment itself. This is different from the family history influences we have discussed before. In this case, something or some event has energy ramifications that are having an influence on the child's energy system. This may be a difficult concept to accept or understand, so I will give an example to try and clarify it. If a child is in school, and he or she develops a stomach ache, we could assume that they just caught a flu bug and should be sent home. If, however, the cause of this symptom is coming from the environment, and the child is affected by the energy of a certain area at the school, they will have this symptom much more frequently and the cause will be much harder to uncover. This is where having access to a modality that actively searches for such influences is invaluable. The BodyTalk system has been extremely helpful in this regard. I highly recommend it for cases where an energy explanation and an energy modality
are likely to help.
